Microneedling: New Way Of Treating Fine Lines and Wrinkles

Signs of aging, like fine lines and wrinkles, have long been a pressing issue for many women. While we do embrace the beauty in everyone, it’s not wrong to want to maintain a youthful appearance. And thanks to advances in technology and aesthetic medicine, it’s now easier than ever to achieve natural-looking and long-lasting results, without the hassle!

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

The first thing one should understand about fine lines and wrinkles is that they come naturally as we age.
As life progresses, our skin gradually loses its overall elasticity, making it appear droopy and withered. Due to gravity, it will also fold over itself in areas that tend to crease, such as around the eyes and mouth, forming wrinkles and other grooves that begin to persist over time.

WHAT CAUSES WRINKLES?

Besides aging, there are other natural factors that contribute to or reinforce the formation of wrinkles; exposure to the sun or ultraviolet rays and environmental and genetic components.

These other factors include:

  • Repeated facial expressions

  • Dehydration

  • Smoking

  • Some medications

TREATMENT

When it comes to treatment, the most fundamental approach to dealing with wrinkles is simply prevention.  Now, this doesn’t mean you should be scared of smiling! Enjoy your life to the fullest while taking precautions for your skin. If you are expecting to be under the sun or outdoors, such as going to the beach or a park with no nearby trees or buildings, it is advisable to wear sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. Physical sun blockers like hats or parasols also work well.

When it comes to facial or skincare maintenance, you can never go wrong with moisturizing on a regular basis and washing your face at least twice a day, especially after sweating. Sweat is a natural skin irritant and can contribute to your overall skin damage as time goes on. Luckily, it’s naturally remedied by a regular cleansing routine to wash it off.

Other preventive measures for treating wrinkles include:

  • Cutting down on alcohol consumption

  • Quitting smoking

  • Eating a healthy diet

Standard treatments may involve medications, injectables, or, in extreme cases, surgery such as dermabrasion, which makes use of a rotating device to remove the outer layers of the skin.

MICRONEEDLING

Here at Beyer Functional Wellness, the main focus is to help our patients achieve the look they desire using alternative and natural health procedures to ensure lasting results and quick recovery.  At our clinic, we provide a medical aesthetic treatment called Microneedling.

Microneedling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), is a minimally invasive treatment that makes use of tiny needles to prick the patient’s skin. The micro-wounds created by this procedure stimulate the natural production of collagen. This serves as a “scaffolding” protein that provides strength and stability and improves elasticity throughout the treatment area.

What makes our Microneedling procedure so special is that we pair it with our Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) treatment. PRP accelerates healing by using platelets taken from the patient’s blood, which contain Growth Factors and reinjecting them into the treatment site. These also stimulate collagen production, aiding in the scaffolding as well as the overall healing process!

If you or someone you know is on the lookout for an effective and natural regimen to help restore and maintain the glow of youth, Dr. Beyer and our clinic are happy to serve you!
