Microneedling has quickly become the treatment of choice for many aesthetic concerns such as:

  • − Fine Lines and wrinkles       − Acne scarring
  • − Crows feet and lip lines.       − Loose and lax skin
  • − Skin tone and texture.          − To decrease pore size
  • − Sun-damaged skin                − Pigmentation problems
  • − Surgical scars                         − Stretch marks
  • − Hair loss

And the reason why it’s become so widely used is simply that it works! You see, the technical name for microneedling is Collagen Induction Therapy(CIT), and that is because a microneedling treatment literally “induces” the production of collagen through small micro-wounds created in the dermis via a precise medical-grade microneedle device. This specialized device punctures barely into the dermis (usually 0.2 millimeters), which causes at most a slight wind-burn feeling for about a day, but enough to stimulate that magic protein… collagen. Collagen is the “scaffolding” protein that provides strength and structure throughout the body. This makes a CIT treatment the perfect choice for wrinkles, scars, stretch marks, loose skin, etc., but it can also help with many other problems (listed above), especially when a microneedling treatment is combined with Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP).

What Is PRP?

Platelets are the smallest cells in our blood, and they have amazing qualities that make them “powerhouse” cells. They are the cells that are primarily responsible for healing damaged tissues in our body by releasing special chemicals called Growth Factors. There are hundreds of different growth factors

that they release, including ones that stimulate new collagen. So with a PRP Facial, you get not only the collagen production from the microneedling itself but the added collagen production from the platelets that are utilized.

What Other Services Are Offered?

At Beyer Functional Wellness we offer some very unique microneedling options that can’t be found at traditional Med Spas. Because of our work in the field of Regenerative Medicine in treating degenerative joint problems, we have extensive experience with the use of Stem Cells and other regenerative “Allograft” products. The use of these products in the area of aesthetics is incredibly effective and is actually the cutting edge science in this field. Look at the list of ingredients that are present in these products, all of which (except for growth factors) are NOT present in a PRP facial:

Additional Collagen: When a microneedling treatment is done with a regenerative allograft product, you will get double the collagen benefit…first from the microneedling itself, and secondly from the product applied which is super rich in collagen.

Elastin: This is the most dominant protein in the skin. It is 1000 times more flexible than collagen and one of the body’s most enduring proteins.

Growth factors: These regulate cell division and survival to stimulate the growth of a specific tissue. The platelets in a PRP treatment release growth factors, but with Regenerative Allograft products there are higher amounts of growth factors.

Amino Acids: The building blocks of proteins, they are essential for protein synthesis, tissue repair, and nutrient absorption

Cytokines: These molecules serve as messengers between cells, mediating inflammation and stimulating the production of other cells that function in tissue maintenance and repair

Hyaluronic Acid: This acts as a cushion and lubricant in the joints, but also promotes healthier, more supple skin

Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSC): These are “blank-slate” cells that have the capacity to differentiate into and replace the damaged cells in the area where they are applied (or injected in the case of a joint problem). So, in the field of aesthetics, they have the beneficial effect of regenerating dermis/skin cells that are damaged.

As you can see, the benefits of these allograft products are numerous in the field of aesthetics. So while you could in fact receive a Microneedling treatment in a Med Spa clinic, we have yet to hear of any that offer the exciting option of adding the incredible benefits mentioned above from the use of regenerative medicine products.
